Franz Konrad
Franz Konrad served as head of the Werterfassung property-seizure apparatus in the Warsaw ghetto. The profile reconstructs the person’s function in Warsaw and the Warsaw ghetto through documented office, decisions, supervision or operational conduct. It does not assign every crime committed by an institution or region to one individual.
Confirmed findings
- Konrad headed the office that registered, sorted and seized property left by deported and murdered residents of the ghetto.
- The plunder apparatus operated alongside deportations and used forced labour.
- Konrad took part in the liquidation of the ghetto and appears in the documentary record assembled in the Stroop Report.
Place in the chain of responsibility
The profile places plunder inside the destruction process: from searching homes through warehousing to transferring goods. It does not reduce the economic mechanism to Konrad’s personal corruption.
Key events and mechanisms
- the mass deportation from Warsaw in 1942
- the liquidation of the Warsaw ghetto in 1943
The circle records authority, function and agency. Several profiles may describe different parts of the same persecution chain, so profile-level totals must not be added together.
Postwar accountability
Konrad was tried in Warsaw with Jürgen Stroop, sentenced to death and executed on 6 March 1952.
Limits of the evidence
Some testimony describes personal theft by Konrad. The profile separates those acts from the institutional plunder documented in trial records and scholarship.

The source set combines institutional, archival, trial or scholarly material from at least two independent publishers.
