Ghetto repression, deportation and forced labour

In Warsaw, regional SS and Police command, the KdS Jewish Affairs Section and officers on patrol occupied different links in one apparatus. Ferdinand von Sammern-Frankenegg directed deportations and issued rules of terror; Josef Blösche and Karl Heinrich Klaustermeyer carried out violence on the ground. Their records distinguish command of an operation, transmission of an order and proved individual killings rather than treating office or presence as evidence of every act.

The Central Resettlement Office in Poznań joined population registration and ethnic selection to displacement from the Wartheland and settlement by ethnic Germans. Rolf-Heinz Höppner's own memorandum and role in the UWZ individualise one managerial link, but do not make him the sole author of regional population policy or of the decision to establish the Kulmhof killing centre.

In the District of Galicia, Erich Engels headed a Gestapo Jewish Affairs Section used in operations in Lviv and Bóbrka. Jewish forced-labour camps in Kraków, Tarnów, Rozwadów and Przemyśl joined labour exploitation to commandant terror, execution and eventual deportation. The judgments against Josef Schwammberger, Franz Josef Müller and Hermann Blache preserve different legal findings instead of converting the history of each camp into a single undifferentiated charge.

Postwar outcomes ranged from execution and life imprisonment to early release and death before trial. Court findings individualise murders, incitement, aiding and abetting and participation in deportation, while contemporary proclamations, memoranda and institutional records reconstruct stages not covered by a judgment. Charges, acquittals and the territorial limits of extradition remain visible throughout.
