Helmut Bischoff
Helmut Bischoff served as commander of Einsatzkommando 1/IV and head of the Gestapo in Poznań. The profile reconstructs the person’s function in Bydgoszcz, Poznań and Fort VII through documented office, decisions, supervision or operational conduct. It does not assign every crime committed by an institution or region to one individual.

Postwar accountability
After a period in Soviet captivity Bischoff returned to West Germany. Proceedings concerning Mittelbau-Dora, the Einsatzgruppen and Poznań did not produce a final conviction; cases were postponed or discontinued, in part on health grounds.
